Aldabra Giant Tortoise Interactive Bionic Installation at Ocean Park Hong Kong

To complement the introduction of two precious Aldabra Giant Tortoises at Ocean Park Hong Kong, our company was commissioned to design and manufacture a bionic mechanical tortoise to serve as an innovative interactive installation in the zone.

  • Design Concept: The Park’s requirement was to create a mechanical device capable of mimicking a tortoise, stretching its neck to reach and consume leaves one meter above the ground, thereby demonstrating the tortoise’s unique feeding behaviour.
  • High-Precision Bionic Technology: Our team utilized a 3D scanner to perform high-precision data acquisition of a real tortoise’s shell. Subsequently, we used transparent material and 3D printing technology to fabricate the mechanical shell. This approach perfectly replicated the tortoise’s external contours and texture while simultaneously showcasing the internal mechanical beauty.
  • Value Proposition: This installation, which combines biological accuracy with innovative engineering, not only offers a novel interactive point for visitors but also vividly promotes ecological knowledge about the Aldabra Giant Tortoise.
